Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, a Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputy responded to a call that a vehicle was changing lanes radically along westbound of I-94. The deputy stopped the vehicle near 76th Street at about 2:10 a.m. and noticed that the driver, Yovani Gallardo showed signs of intoxication. Gallardo, 26, originally from Michoacan was identified as a Milwaukee Brewers pitcher tested .22 for blood alcohol content, which is almost three times the legal limit of .08. He was arrested and cited as a first offense for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).
The Milwaukee Brewers released the following statement, "We have been made aware of the situation with Yovani and we take this matter very seriously. We have expressed our disappointment to him and know he understands that behavior of this nature is of great concern to everyone in the organization. Yovani has acknowledged the seriousness of this incident and is taking full accountability for his actions."
In late August 2011, Gallardo and Alex Sanchez, a Brewers Clubhouse attendant were robbed of jewelry and money by a gunman while leaving Jalisco's Restaurant at the 1000 block of S. Cesar E. Chavez Drive in Milwaukee's south side.
