Waukesha, WI - Local Waukesha police, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have launched a nationwide dragnet to locate and arrest Eddie Donald Callaway, 26, in connection with Monday's night homicide of Shanel A. Negron, 24, also known as "Nani" from Bronx, New York, but had lived in city of Waukesha. Callaway was charged in absentia on Wednesday and a $1 million dollars cash bond was set for the fugitive when a one count of first-degree intentional homicide charge was filed in Waukesha County.
Negron was fatally shot in the head by Callaway outside her home in the intersection of Summit Ave. and Moreland Blvd. around 7:15 p.m., according to the criminal complaint. Negron died at the scene after attempts to resuscitate her failed.
She worked for Chartwells, a Carroll University contract food service provider.
A temperary restraining order (TRO) for domestic abuse was filed in February against Callaway, and an injunction was granted until 2017, according to court records. Callaway was restricted by owning or having a weapon while the TRO order is in effect.
Callaway is believed to be driving a 2002 Ford gray Taurus. Police had released Callaway's mugshot. He might have fled the state and probably is heading to Indiana where Callaway has family, according to police.
Callaway was placed in the U.S. Marshals Service and FBI's most wanted list in Wisconsin on Tuesday, according to Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack.
Negron is survived by her 3-year-old daughter. Her daughter was not at the scene when Callaway killed Negron, but she is safe, Chief Jack confirmed.
